Lighter weight than gas and diesel because there is no chamber for fuel, electric walk-behind saws are easier to story (no concerns for fire hazards), quieter, start up immediately, are usable indoors in enclosed spaces, and don't emit harmful gas fumes. They are not built for heavy duty tasks requiring up to a 480-volt generator to operate a 42-inch blade, cannot be used with water to control silica dust, are limited to the area of the power source and aren't as portable as gas. Construction safety records cite the electrical cord as being a potential trip hazard too.
